Ehancing the Healing Environment

Hand dyed textiles were produced by people who attend a local NHS centre. The textiles were used to make wall hangings and 24 cushions.
The project was made possible by funding from the Kings Fund, London. |

Workshops
|
|
I enjoy teaching and sharing my skills with others. I see this as a way of not just helping others to enjoy patchwork and quilts but also as a means of keeping a long extablished tradition alive.
I run one day workshops from my home for up to 6 people, or in a hall for up to 20. The cost of each workshop includes all materials, tea, coffee, juice and homemade cake. Additional materials are available to purchase for those who wish to take the technique learnt further. Workshop participants bring a packed lunch. |

Awash with Colour - Dying at the kitchen sink
|

This workshop introduces participants to easy to use household dyes and a variety of resist dying techniques from Africa and Japan.

|
 This workshop introduces an American patchwork technique, used by the early settlers, called cathedral windows. |

 This workshop introduces participants to a traditional patchwork design, called Drunkards Path, that uses curved seams. |

Japanese Shibori
|
-4.gif) This workshop introduces participants to the ancient Japanese technique called shibori. In this technique areas of fabric are folded, wrapped, twisted, or pleated in special ways then secured with string or thread. The prepared fabric is then dyed. |
